Easter Bunny Surprises

What I find so absolutely addicting as a parent is that wide-eyed look of unbelief you get from kids at Christmas/Easter/birthdays. When they're so excited, they shake. That one fraction of a moment when they look at you with an open mouth and eyes the size of saucers.

That's what we got from Gabe on Easter morning.

For starters, he was so excited for the Easter Bunny to visit that he forgot about his usual stall tactics at bedtime. When he got up (early) Sunday morning, the first words out of his mouth were, "Did the Easter Bunny come?"

We got him downstairs, and we all quickly found Ada's basket, which was barely hidden. Gabe started picking eggs up around the room, and pretty soon, he discovered his own basket hidden behind the TV. Right away, he grabbed the Galactic Heroes Star Wars pack off the top of the basket, held it up for us to see, and showed us those big saucer eyes, so surprised was he to find the toy he had been wanting.

Those are the moments parents are always trying to capture on camera, but rarely succeed. They are rare and happen at lightning-speed. But those moments are what makes parenting the best job on Earth.
