Waffles and Fighter Jets

I love Saturday mornings.

Even though the days of sleeping late are gone, it's still so relaxing (unless one of the kids wakes up on the wrong side of the bed). There's no rush to get out the door. No hurrying with showers and breakfast and getting clothes on and finding the missing shoe that mysteriously walked off on its own.

Instead, Saturday means an extra cup of coffee ... wait, let me rephrase that ... Saturday means actually finishing my first cup of coffee before it's tepid.

Saturday means waffles and staying in jammies until 10 or later. Saturday means poking around the house, throwing in some laundry, turning the heat up a couple of degrees. Saturday means waffles and lots of syrup.

This particular Saturday morning, Al decided to dig out his vintage Star Wars toys for Gabe. You'd think it was Christmas morning at our house with all the toys spread across the living room floor. Death Star battle station, Millenium Falcon, X-wing fighter jets, Darth Vader and more.

I love it. I love seeing Al be a kid, love watching him share something with Gabe. I love watching Gabe's imagination go to town.

After all, that's what Saturdays are for ...
