Testing Your Attention

Let's see who actually reads my blog (although I've been woefully behind in writing in here so I really doubt if anyone has been reading it). I'm pregnant. There. I said it aloud for all of virtual space to hear. Just about a week ago, we found out that another member would be joining our family in March. Surprised? You betcha. Happy? You betcha. In shock? A little ... Scared? Uh-huh!

For starters, where is this new baby going to go? We are out of bedrooms, we drive a Corolla. I just took down the crib. And how am I going to take care of three souls? I feel like I can't even handle Gabe at the moment (you know, the child who tests his boundaries over and over and over ...).

But on the other hand, I'm reminded of how God really is in control of my life. He has a plan for me. FOR ME! FOR OUR FAMILY! FOR THIS BABY! Even amongst all of my plans, I can't plan for everything.

The night before I took that test that showed me two pink lines ... I heard a quote from "Dan in Real Life," that really struck me.

"Instead of telling our young people to plan ahead," uttered the advice columnist, "we should tell them to plan to be surprised."

I have been surprised over and over and over ... this perhaps being one of the greater ones in my life so far. And I guess that is what makes life so grand ... that we don't know what all of the cards are.

So there's my secret. I have a little life growing inside of me, and I am truly excited.
