Gabe came home with a "bad" note from daycare yesterday. It said he was very aggressive and had bit (!?!?!?!?!??) and hit another child. Boy, was I furious.
So, he lost his TV and dessert privileges last night. That's the first time he's really had a cause-effect punishment ... where he did something away from home and was punished for it. Usually, we catch him at things right away and give him a timeout. This time, he was in trouble for the entire evening.
When did it really hit him? Well, he was OK with the punishment until he asked why Ada didn't get dessert.
Me: "Oh, Ada gets dessert tonight. She was a good girl today."
Gabe: "No, no, no!!!!"
And then the crying started.
However, by the time dinner was over, Gabe had accepted his fate. He even opened Ada's lollipop for her and told me that he would "have his tomorrow."
Let's just hope today goes better.
Frankly, this part of parenting really sucks.
