Parent-Teacher Conference

Last night was parent-teacher night/graduation at the daycare. Al, Gabe and Ada stayed behind because it was too close to bedtime, and I made the trip back to Iola to chat with the daycare ladies about my kids. I find it so interesting to hear what they're like when we're not around. Report from everyone is that I have good kids (sigh of relief!).

Here's what I found out:

Gabe - He's not a follower; he does his own thing, which I like to hear, coming from a long line of independent thinkers. He's drastically improved socially. He's learning to cut with scissors, recognize his name, etc. He keeps an eye on his sister when they're out on the playground (made my mother's heart swell to hear this!). He takes a while to warm up to the craziness of the daycare each day, but after a few hours, he's yelling and playing with the best of them. The ladies say he's a good kid.

Ada - She's the funny one. Very emotional, lays her feelings out there for everyone to see. She's doing well and catching up in the gross-motor skill area. She also likes to talk to her brother during lunch, yelling "Gay!" across the table to get his attention. Sounds like she's a bit of a favorite with the ladies.

So, I have good kids. I knew this, but needed to be reminded after the serious temper tantrums that both of them threw last night as I was leaving the house. Note: Make sure they get their nap today. Kids without naps are not nice.
