Last weekend, it was 70 degrees. Today, I am staring at 2 inches of fresh snow. Beautiful? Perhaps ... if it were December. Given the fact that it is MID-APRIL, I am seriously questioning my ancestors reasoning for settling here.
I don't have any earth-shattering, philosophical ramblings to post today. Just wanted to note the week's activities.
1. The raised-garden project was going well until the weather turned. Al now has two beds mostly built. As soon as the snow melts, we're going to fill them with topsoil. I can't wait to visit the greenhouse. So far, I'm planning tomatoes, beans, lettuce, herbs, peas, for sure.
2. I had the day off on Wednesday, which I spent in a flurry of shopping activity with my friend Shannon. However, it's funny how I can never get the kids out of my mind, even when I try. I found myself staring at toys in Walmart at one point when I was supposed to be having a selfish day of shopping for myself.
3. Our Uncle Richard had a severe stroke this week, and we're very unsure if he'll make it. After praying for his family at the dinner table this week, Gabe told me that he would like to visit him when he gets better. I think Gabe wanted to make Richard feel better, which was sweet and sad at the same time.
4. My tulips are all coming up. They were doing nicely until this snowfall, and I hope they bloom after this.
5. As for the kids, Ada is making simple sentences now. "Riley go bye-bye." "More nana (banana)." Gabe has been singing the alphabet all.the.time. The "L-M-N-O-P" part pretty much sounds like gibberish, however. We're working on that.
And as Garrison says, that's all from here, "where the men are strong, the women are good-lookin', and all the kids are above-average."
Signing off.
